Yarrabilba ambulance’s uplifting upgrade

The Yarrabilba Ambulance Station received a game-changing piece of medical equipment set to speed up response times.

The station received a Razier patient lifting chair – a mobile device enabling a fallen person who cannot get up to reach a standing position.

The device is easily transportable and can be operated by a single paramedic.

Often, more than one paramedic is required to assist a person who has fallen, particularly if they are unconscious.

Sometimes it can take up to two and a half hours before extra help arrives.

The treasurer of the Logan Ambulance Committee (LAC), Col Myers, presented the Yarrabilba team with the new lifter at an event outside Logan Hospital on Saturday 25 May.

“This is LAC’s way, with the help of Underwood Lions, in supporting the QAS and Hospital Medical Staff of Logan and Districts for the work that they do and for the effort that they contribute,” Mr Myers said.

Local health care workers joined LAC for a sausage sizzle and a drink to celebrate.

LAC’s goal is to have one chair in every station.

There are currently four shared amongst eight ambulance stations.
