Wonderful Women of Waterford award winners

Every year I am so excited to host the Wonderful Women of Waterford awards and celebrate the incredible and inspiring women that are the backbone of our community. Our Waterford women are strong, resilient, and can do anything they set their minds to.

Reading the nominations every year is so uplifting, and I’m proud to celebrate the nominees valuable contributions to our community. I always say, when it comes to women in leadership ‘you can’t be what you can’t see’, and so many women in Logan are inspiring role models and trailblazers, leading the way for the next generation. I’m so pleased to bring the achievements of so many women to the forefront through these awards.

This year has been particularly challenging with COVID-19 and more recently the devastating floods, but the compassion and spirit that our community has shown is a testament to their strength and resilience. This is something I want to shine a light on this year. I’ve talked to some amazing women who have gone above and beyond these last few weeks to support our community, whether that be through helping a neighbour or turning up to help clean out inundated homes and businesses. I want to thank everyone who has stepped up for our community, but particularly our wonderful women of Waterford.

Past Wonderful Women of Waterford include community leaders like

  • Gail Kerr, OAM
  • Rachael Pascua from YFS’s R4Respect program
  • Laura Guthrie from Munster Services
  • Rita Anwari from Women, Empowerment and Leadership
  • Jenny Bennett, who facilitates a local Multiple Sclerosis group and a fighter for people with MS

I can’t wait to add more names to the list of special women who we acknowledge for their amazing contributions.

I am so proud to be the Member for Waterford and to celebrate our fantastic women every year.
