Why doesn’t council value arts, craft Co-op?

It has come to my attention, that the Logan City Council no longer thinks the Arts and Craft Co-op is necessary in Logan.

Do they realise how many ladies and gentlemen this Co- op have called this place their home away from home and kept their minds active and earnt a little pocket money?

As we all know there isn’t much money made on craft but it has helped keep some of these dying skills alive.

My experience with the Butter Factory Arts and Craft came when I lost my mother and I was at a loss, the friendships I made from this have lasted at least 26 years.

During this time I also lost my husband and once again the support from the members helped me through my ordeal.

I know there would have been at least 100 members who have past through the complex, all with their own stories.

All this time Cathy Windsor has been able to steer the craft Co- op even with her own losses, it has been a family place for her as well.

She has carefully guided the Co-op by choosing very talented people to display their craft.

I find it disappointing that the council can turn a blind eye to 30 years of bus tours from all over Brisbane and further, that have come to Logan to visit the Butter Factory Craft.

This generated a lot into Logan but the Council now seems to want to ignore it.

I am hoping this does not fall on deaf ears as there are people who rely on this for, friendship, keeping crafts alive and a small remuneration.

Thanking you,

Cheryl Hogarth,
