Boat users will soon have a safer and easier place to launch, with reconstruction of the Larry Storey boat ramp set to begin in June.
The Queensland Government project will rebuild the existing single-lane ramp, extend its length and improve access for people launching and retrieving boats at lower tides.
New grouted rock shoulders will also be built to give the ramp extra stability.
Maritime Safety Queensland will deliver the works, which are expected to be completed by early August 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.
The project is intended to ensure the Waterford ramp continues to meet the needs of the local boating community and industry.
The boat ramp will be fully closed for the duration of construction for public safety and to allow the works to be completed efficiently.
People who use the ramp will be able to access the Federation Drive boat ramp in Bethania, about 5km north of the Waterford site, while the works are under way.
A Transport and Main Roads statement said the project would deliver a safer and more accessible facility for the local boating community.
