LOGAN Hospital’s New Dementia Care Ward Now Open

It’s great to see Logan Hospital’s brand-new Ward 6B – a dedicated Acute Cognitive Unit for older adults living with dementia – officially open.

This new space has been purpose-built to provide specialised care in a setting that feels more like home. With features like a lounge room, dining area, “bus stop” nook and safe spaces to wander, it offers dignity, comfort and calm for patients with cognitive impairments. Congratulations to the incredible staff at Logan Hospital who have worked so hard to make this vision a reality. It’s another important step in delivering the care our community deserves.

Honouring Our Vietnam Veterans

I was honoured to join residents, families and veterans at this year’s Vietnam Veterans Day service at Ingenia Bethania.

It was a chance to reflect on the bravery and sacrifice of the Australians who served in one of the most difficult and divisive conflicts in our history. Many were conscripted at a young age and served with strength, resilience, and mateship. We acknowledge the weight of what you went through and the sacrifices you made. Lest We Forget.

Flu season is still here

The flu season isn’t over. I had my flu shot back in April at Good Price Pharmacy Warehouse in Underwood and I strongly encourage others to please consider getting your vaccination if you haven’t already. Unfortunately, the LNP Government seems more interested in splashing taxpayer dollars on rebranding everything in LNP blue than running important public health campaigns.

So if they won’t promote it, I will. It’s a simple, effective way to protect yourself and those around you.

Mental Health Support in Difficult Times

Our community has faced some devastating events recently, particularly in Slacks Creek and Regents Park and I know many people are feeling the impact. I want to extend my sincere condolences to the families who are grieving and to everyone affected by these heartbreaking tragedies. If you’re struggling or carrying something heavy, please know that support is available. You are not alone.
