Safety upgrades at an increasingly busy intersection at Jimboomba have begun.
The intersection of Camp Cable Road and Edelsten Road was identified for an upgrade due to the rapid expansion of local suburbs, increased traffic and number of crashes, according to The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).
Construction began on Monday, and is expected to finish in July this year.
It will include:
- adding a dedicated right turn lane from Camp Cable Road into Edelsten Road,
- upgrading the Give Way sign to a Stop sign at the existing left hand turn lanes from Edelsten Road onto Camp Cable Road,
- resealing a section of Camp Cable Road near the intersection,
- installing road lighting to improve night-time visibility, and
- installing a 2m shoulder and bicycle lane line marking.
Over the next six months, TMR has advised motorists to expect delays and changed traffic conditions, as well as noise, dust and vibrations due to construction.
“TMR thanks motorists and local residents for their patience while these critical safety upgrades are being delivered and urges all road users to prioritise safety and drive to conditions,” a statement read.
More to come.
