Upgrade for Global Food Market

YOU’LL often hear me celebrating that we have more than 234 cultures in Logan. That means amazing music, traditions and, of course, food.
The Global Food Market in Woodridge is one of the best places to experience this. If you haven’t been before, it’s right next to Woodridge train station – which makes it super easy to get to.
So what kicked this all off?
Well, I’m happy to say that Logan City Council listened to the community back in 2018 about the need to upgrade this area.
We took that feedback on board and the City of Logan joined forces with the State Government to deliver this.
Throughout this project we went back to locals three times to test their views and changed the design based on their feedback.
We’ve now got wider footpaths to boost the opportunities for local businesses to offer outdoor dining, we’ve planted more trees to increase shade, we’ve added seats, shelters and bins, and we’ve improved safety with lighting and CCTV cameras.
There are also new public toilets on the corner of Croydon Road and Blackwood Road.
And we had some local artists contribute to making it look bright and beautiful too.
Importantly, we wanted to support the local businesses at this site to help them thrive.
Pedestrian safety is key – and I’m really excited for you all to visit this amazing example of how great Logan is.
At the opening event, we had a busker, multicultural dance groups (including the incredible Tahitian dancers) free facepainting, snow cones and a jumping castle.
My favourite part of the event was seeing how many community members came out to celebrate.
Croydon Street was pumping and there were big smiles all round.
In case you’re wondering, yes – Global Food Markets will be back in its usual spot this Sunday.
My hot tip: bring cash!
