Two hospitalised in M1 motorbike crash, Beenleigh

Two people were hospitalised following a crash on the M1 at Beenleigh on 16 January.

One of the people, a 45-year-old man from Shailer Park, allegedly failed to stop at the scene of the crash.

He was later found by police.

According to police, a blue Triumph motorcycle and a dark blue Volkswagen Passat station wagon crashed on the Pacific Highway at around 11.30pm.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 32-year-old female from Tallebudgera, suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.

“The driver of the Volkswagen, a 45-year-old Shailer Park man, failed to stop at the scene and was intercepted by police in Coomera,” police said in a statement.

“He was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital.”

“The Forensic Crash Unit is appealing for witnesses and anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV vision, particularly the movements of the station wagon travelling southbound on the Pacific Highway prior to the crash, to come forward.”

Investigations are ongoing.
