Trail dream remains alive for Logan Village, Yarrabilba

The ability to walk, ride or hike from Logan Village to Yarrabilba remains in the pipeline after a $1.25 million two-year commitment from Logan City Council.

Council says planning for the trail is nearing completion, but it’s likely to take a further two years and an allocation of State and Federal Government money before we see workers clearing the way.

The 3.5km trail will be built on a disused rail spur line, which was transferred to Council as road reserve. It is flanked mostly by natural bushland.

People from Logan Village said at a forum in March 2018 they wanted a connection with their neighbouring community.

Council’s $2 million Logan Village Implementation Fund in June 2018 included an allowance for design of the trail, but not construction.

In April last year, a further $200,000 was added from the State Government’s Rail Trail Local Government Grants (RTLGG) program to finalise feasibility and design.

Council is now hopeful the latest round of funding over two years will lead to more State and Federal funding.
