Police continue to investigate the circumstances behind a Browns Plains fire last week which took the lives of Doreen Langham and her ex-partner Gary Hely, both aged 49.
Media reports said police had attended the house after reports of a domestic violence order breach.
The fire broke out within hours of the visit.
At around 4am last Monday morning, the Moyla St townhouse was engulfed in flames.
Preliminary investigations indicate the blaze was deliberately lit and a crime scene was established.
A coronial investigation would be overseen by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
“Inquiries indicate that on the night before the fire, there was a phone call made to police,” Chief Superintendent Swan said at a press conference.
“Police did attend the unit a couple of hours at least before the fire.”
Chief Superintendent Swan said all information around the police interactions with the couple, and their investigations, would form part of the inquiry.
He would not speculate on the extent of alleged domestic violence breaches.
“Fire scenes are particularly complex and difficult scenes so it will take us some time to put together what did happen,” Chief Superintendent Swan said.
