Motorists and parents are being urged to prepare for significant traffic delays as Corymbia State School opens its doors for the first time on January 28.
The newly established primary school, located at 450 Park Ridge Road, is expected to create heavy congestion during peak drop-off and pick-up times due to incomplete road infrastructure.
Traffic will likely be busiest between 7am and 9am, and from 1.30pm to 4pm.
Police and traffic control officers will be on site during the school’s first week to manage traffic flow and ensure safety for all road users.
To mitigate congestion, parents and motorists are advised to follow a designated detour route:
- Travel east along Park Ridge Road and turn left into the school’s secondary access road for entry.
- Upon leaving the school, vehicles are required to turn left only.
- Variable message signs will direct traffic north along Chambers Flat Road, turning left onto Bumstead Road, then left again onto Clarke Road. This route will guide motorists back to Park Ridge Road, approaching the school from the recommended direction.
Police are urging drivers to exercise patience and allow extra travel time during these peak periods.
“We’d like to thank the community for their understanding as the school’s new students, parents, and staff settle into the facility,” a police statement said
