Each year, thousands of students start the school year without basic supplies.
But one Logan based organisation is working to change that, one kid at a time.
Kids4Kids has once again stepped up to support thousands of local children in need.
This year, Kids4Kids has helped 1500 families across the region by gifting thousands of pencil cases and bags to students.
“We’ve been absolutely amazed by the outpouring of support this year,” CEO of Kids4Kids Tanya Glancy said.
“The organisation continues to grow year on year, and the community’s commitment to helping these kids has been heartwarming.
“We’ve seen a massive increase in the number of volunteers and donations, and it’s all making a huge difference in the lives of the children we serve.”
The foundation’s annual donation drive encourages Logan residents to contribute new school supplies, including pencil cases, bags and other essential items, to ease back to school expenses for local families.
Volunteers of all ages, including children themselves, help with packing and organising the donations, ensuring that every student receives the supplies they need for the new school year.
“We’ve been working tirelessly to gather and distribute as much as possible. This year, we have a record number of volunteers and collaborators, and that has been key in reaching so many kids,” said Kids4Kids CEO Katherine Shanks.
“It’s not just about the supplies; it’s about showing these kids that their community cares about them.”
A standout moment for the 2025 program was the pencil case packing day earlier in the month, where local families came together to prepare the donations.
“The energy was incredible, and seeing parents bring their children along to help was special,” Mrs Glancy said.
“It was a day of giving and learning for everyone involved.”
The foundation, which operates on donations and volunteer efforts, has grown significantly since its inception eight years ago, with a strong base of community support.
“We truly see the communities spirit shine through with initiatives like this,” Mrs Shanks said.
“Every child deserves to have the opportunity to learn and thrive during their schooling years.
So, people making small donations or giving their time to volunteer, every little effort helps.”
