Murray and Shelly Hubbard bought a peaceful home in “sleepy hollow park” seven years ago, but it’s time for them to be closer to family.
Located on Yorkshire Crescent in a peaceful part of Mount Warren Park, the home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, three living room areas and an inground pool.
Although they will miss it dearly, Mr and Mrs Hubbard want to move back to the Gold Coast.
“We originally downsized from a large home at the Gold Coast, we have adult children and grandchildren living down there, so we have decided to move back to be close to our family,” Mr Hubbard said.
“We have loved living here. When we first looked at the place we wrote a list of everything we wanted in a home, and it ticked all the boxes.”
Mr and Mrs Hubbard bought the home so they could settle down in their retirement.
Mr Hubbard is a retired journalist who has worked for various newspapers across Australia, and was a three-time finalist in the Walkley Awards for investigative reporting.
He’s also written numerous books.
“While living here we moved the laundry area closer to the carport, to open up space for an office for my writing. I’m retired now but I still write,” he said.
“It’s a good size, but I do have too much stuff and it looks more like a museum of all my journo things and items from our world travels.”
The house is within walking distance to childcare facilities, a primary school and high school, shops, a RSL club and has an 18-hole Golf Club just a few streets away.
“We have loved living here it’s so relaxed and peaceful, we call Mt Warren Park sleep hollow park for that reason,” Mr Hubbard said.
“It’s a great area with everything close and convenient and we also have such lovely neighbours, always on the lookout for each other and helping each other out.”
Mr Hubbard said security was important, so the home is fully fenced.
“Security was a big thing for us, especially as we are getting on a bit, so the home is fully fenced with a 1.8m high fence and tall gates,” he said.
“We travel a lot in our caravan and overseas and the neighbours are always keeping an eye on the house for us, even checking our mail.
“We will miss the area and our neighbours, and we hope the new owners enjoy the home as we did.”
