Women’s sport in Logan has been given a funding boost which is geared to increase participation levels.
A $100,000 grant from the state government, coupled with a further $77,000 from Brisbane Lions Football Club and Logan City Council, will help the city continue its “Game on for Women” program.
City lifestyle chair Laurie Koranski said the city was committed to ensuring sport is accessible to everyone.
“Sport and being active plays such an important role in our community and it’s important for council to provide programs that encourage healthy activities,” Cr Koranski said.
“We’re keen to encourage women to play sport. We are hoping the Game on for Women program will provide incentives for more women to get engaged in sport across the city.”
The program aims to help sports players, coaches, officials, and leaders.
It helps clubs and women to:
• Attend a Leadership Masterclass and access accredited training.
• Attend networking events throughout the year.
• Compete for two $5000 bursaries to support local women to study a sport-related degree.
