Now that we are out of lockdown again, the Logan business community needs your help. Since the very first set of Covid restrictions, our local small business owners have been trying to balance economic survival with the need to keep the community safe.
We have locked down, masked up, enforced check ins and cut down on the number of customers to help with social distancing. We will continue to work with the local, state and federal governments but the real assistance will come from you, our community.
Now, more than ever, we need you to buy local at every opportunity. Make the conscious choice to buy a local coffee or pastry, use a local gardener or read the local paper. Your support means the world to us and just a few small choices can make all the difference.
If you own a business in Logan, remember that the Logan Chamber of Commerce is here to support you through networking, functions when possible and connections to other resources designed to help you survive these times including local, state and federal support programs.
The annual Logan City Charity Golf Day will be held on September 3. Last year we raised $10,000 for Substation33 to help bridge the digital divide. This money allowed 100 computers to be donated to Logan families, so kids could participate in online classes during lockdowns. This year, we hope to raise even more.
On September 10-11, the Logan Chamber of Commerce is holding the first Logan Writers Festival which will include two days of support for aspiring authors with information from publishers, award-winning authors and competitions.
Finally for September, on the 24th, the Logan Business Distinction Awards night will be held at the Beenleigh Events Centre. This night celebrates our local business heroes and is the night of nights for local business. Anyone who is anyone in local business will be there, so get your tickets and celebrate our amazing entrepreneurs.
