Stronger Together: The Story Behind Ray White Waterford’s Dynamic Duo

Local Business Legends of Logan

Two women. One vision. A shared history that began as teenagers working side-by-side and evolved into a trusted real estate partnership in the heart of Logan. For Kate and Lisa, co-owners of Ray White Waterford, real estate isn’t just about property—it’s about people, legacy, and deep community roots. Their story is one of humble beginnings, hard work, and heart.

How did the two of you first start working together, and what made the partnership click?
Kate: We first met in 2006, right here in this very agency under Kerri and Neville Newman. I was a junior receptionist and Lisa a Property Manager. Just teenagers at the time, we already shared a quiet determination—not just to do our jobs, but to genuinely help people and make a difference.
Lisa: That’s right. From day one, we both genuinely cared—about our clients, doing things the right way, and being team players. That shared mindset created an effortless rhythm between us. It just worked—and that connection has stayed strong ever since.

Tell us about the moment you decided to purchase the business. What motivated that leap?
Lisa: Honestly, it wasn’t on our radar. We’d been managing the Ray White Waterford office for years and loved it, but when the offer to buy the business came, we were shocked.
Kate: But we knew in our hearts it was the right decision. This office holds deep meaning for us—especially because it was built by our mentor, Kerri Newman, who sadly passed away. She led with integrity and kindness, and continuing her legacy felt like the right way to honour her.

What do you love most about working in the Waterford and Logan area?
Kate: It’s home. We actually grew up just streets apart in Kingston in housing commission homes. We remember the old Hyperdome playground, Kingston Pool, Sunday markets—it’s all part of our story.
Lisa: And now we get to help other families write their own chapters here. There’s so much heart in Logan. It’s diverse, resilient, and full of people who want to build better lives. Being part of that journey is a privilege.

How did the 2022 floods impact your team and community?
Lisa: Our entire downstairs office was destroyed—it was a massive blow. But something amazing happened. People just showed up. Locals with utes, tools, and takeaway coffees. In just a few hours, they’d gutted the building and got us ready to rebuild.
Kate: To also add to the pressure I was in labour! I will never forget the way that the community just wrapped their arms around us – it was so powerful!

How do you lead your team to uphold the high level of service you’re known for?
Kate: We lead by example. If the receptionist is caught up, I’ll take the desk. If a PM’s away, Lisa’s on the phone.
Lisa: No task is beneath anyone here. That mindset builds a team that’s truly all in—and it shines through in how we care for our clients. Everyone counts, and everyone’s contribution matters.

What would you tell your younger selves starting out in 2004?
Kate: Back yourself—fully and unapologetically. Don’t wait for approval. You already have what it takes, and more strength than you realise
Lisa: Trust your instincts—they’re shaping your path for a reason. Every sacrifice, every late night, is forging someone powerful, resilient, and unstoppable.

“We didn’t plan to own a business—but we couldn’t walk away from the legacy we loved.”
