Local Legends of Logan
Leeanne Enoch, Member for Algester and Shadow Minister for Seniors and Disability Services, has been a strong voice for the Logan region since 2015. Passionate about community, education and inclusion, she shares her journey, achievements, and why connection matters—especially during Queensland Seniors Month.
What inspired you to step into politics?
I’ve always been driven by service—volunteering as a teen, becoming a teacher, and working in social justice. It was a natural progression, and one that’s given me the chance to work alongside locals and create meaningful change.
What are you most proud of achieving in your electorate?
Our community has grown by over 10,000 people, and I’m proud to have helped secure over $100 million in school funding—for new classrooms, air conditioning, and solar. Infrastructure has also been a big focus, including the $512 million Logan Enhancement Project and the $21 million Greenbank RSL park ‘n’ ride to support Labor’s 50 cent fares.
As Shadow Minister for Seniors, what are some key challenges for older residents?
Seniors face social isolation, housing affordability, and digital exclusion. Many older people struggle to stay connected to services, family and community. We must ensure they have access to the support they need to live safe fulfilling lives.
Tell us about the Southside Seniors Expo on October 1st.
I’m excited to host this free event at Calamvale Community College Sports Hall as part of Seniors Month. It will bring together local services, health and wellness info, lifestyle options, and community groups—all in one place.
Why are events like this important?
They reduce isolation, build connections, and celebrate the contributions of older people. Most importantly, they remind our seniors they are valued and supported.
“We must ensure our seniors stay connected, supported, and valued in every stage of life”.
