Police have appealed to the public for help in tracking down multiple offenders who they allege are responsible for several car thefts, an assault and dangerous driving offences.
Several of the alleged offences took place on 21 December in and around Inala, Richlands and Oxley, triggering a police operation which included helicopters (polair)
At around 2pm on 21 December, police said Polair saw a man driving a KTM motorbike, allegedly stolen from Moffat Street in Oxley on 11 December, dangerously on Clipper Street, Inala.
The motorbike was tracked to Orchard Road in Richlands, where police said the man left the motorcycle and drove away in a white BMW X2, allegedly stolen from North Booval on 20 December, at around 2.10pm.
Police allege the same offender, and another man, abandoned the BMW at a petrol station on Ipswich Road in Annerley at 3.25pm, after reports of a hit-and-run.
Police allege they drove away in an LDV T60, stolen from a man in his 40s who attempted to stop the alleged offenders from leaving the scene. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Polair tracked the LDV to Inala, where officers tried to stop the car with a tyre deflation device at around 5.25pm.
The two alleged offenders continued driving before abandoning the car on Centaurus Street, where police allege they carjacked a Hyundai Veloster with two passengers, a woman and a man, inside the car.
The woman and man left the Hyundai uninjured at around 6pm on Browns Plains Road, Browns Plains, while the alleged offenders continued driving the car north to Sanderling Street, Inala, where they abandoned it, police allege.
From there, the offenders left in another car, police said, which was “possibly a black Holden Commodore.”
Police said the current location of the alleged offenders was unknown, but that their investigations into the matters were ongoing.
They have an appeal to the public to come forward with relevant information, CCTV, or dashcam footage to contact Crimestoppers or Policelink.
