The Springwood Hotel is officially turning the page on its “all-you-can-eat” era, with the completion of a $5.5 million renovation that focuses on quality dining and live sports.
A suburban landmark since the 1970s, the hotel has undergone its first major facelift in more than 15 years to create a vibrant, modern hub for Springwood families and sports fans.
Publican Eric De-Caires said the renovation was about keeping the soul of the Springwood Hotel but giving it the polish it deserves.
“Springwood Hotel has always been a hub for the community,” Mr De-Caires said.
“This renovation keeps the heart of what locals love but elevates the experience,” he said.
The centerpiece of this renewal is the complete retirement of the buffet, making way for a fresh new bistro.
Led by senior head chef Upaksha ‘Upi’ Lal Ranasinghege, who recently relocated from the top-tier Buderim Tavern, the new menu focuses on elevated pub classics, including hand-crumbed schnitzels and the signature “Thor’s Hammer” share plate.
With a dedicated dessert station and a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere, the new bistro is designed to be the go-to spot for everything from a quick Tuesday night feed with the kids to a long-overdue catch-up with mates.
On the other side of the house, the venue’s social energy has gotten a serious boost with the launch of the Patriots Sports Bar.
While it takes a nod from the high-energy atmosphere of American sports bars, the vibe remains quintessentially Queensland: laid-back, welcoming and built for the community.
The Springwood Hotel is also the first Australian Leisure and Hospitality venue in the country to debut interactive digital darts, providing a blueprint for a future national rollout.
Th renovation was designed by C&W and built by Unita QLD.
Taking cues from the polished, world-class aesthetic of Las Vegas, the venue’s gaming space features a sophisticated, modern layout anchored by a dynamic, curved LED banner screen integrated into the ceiling.
The work created more than 15 new jobs.
The doors to the new Patriots Sports Bar and Springwood Bistro are now open.
