Skaters on night watch at new park

LOGAN Village is set to get its own skate park, complete with lighting.

Logan City Council says the community called for the lighting to allow the Logan Village Green facility night time use.

Shade structures will also be built, along with more trees in the park.

Footpath access points are designed to minimise accident risk between skaters and pedestrians.

Janelle and Jeff Smith’s late son Clinton was instrumental in the design of the previous skatepark.

Logan Village Green has already been given a new adventure playground, enhanced heritage precinct, upgraded events space and new RSL cenotaph.

“Logan Village has some enormous potential, and the work we are doing here adds to that,” Cr Jon Raven said.

“These projects are great for locals, but we also want to draw people from further afield to enjoy what Logan Village has to offer.”

It’s hoped the park will be of competition standard.
