Six teenagers have been charged after allegedly evading police in a car officers say was stolen from Browns Plains.
At about 10.40pm on Saturday (17 May), police were driving along Learoyd Road at Willawong in Brisbane when they saw a black Mitsubishi ASX.
Police allege the car was stolen from a carpark on Eastern Road at Browns Plains the night before.
“Police attempted to intercept the vehicle however it failed to stop and Polair commenced tracking it. The vehicle travelled through Inala and Oxley before heading west on the Ipswich Motorway,” police alleged in a statement.
“A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed on Brisbane Road at Dinmore at 11.10pm.”
The car then returned to the motorway, heading inbound before stopping at Wacol.
“A 13-year-old male driver and the five occupants were taken into police custody,” police said.
A 13-year-old boy has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful use of motor vehicle and evade police.
Another 13-year-old boy, a 14-year-old boy and two boys and a girl all aged 15, were each charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
All the boys have been refused police bail and will appear in Ipswich Childrens Court on 19 May.
Anyone who may have seen vehicle or has relevant vision of the black Mitsubishi ASX is asked to contact police.
