Salvation Army appeal gets welcome boost

Logan City Council, an organisation of about 1700 staff, has joined Logan Water to collect gifts for families doing it tough.

Food, toys and other gifts were last week donated to the Salvation Army’s annual Christmas appeal.

Captain Anthony Hunt, from the Salvation Army Logan, said the donation was a “huge blessing” for the local community.

“It means more local families will be able to celebrate Christmas the way they like,” Captain Hunt said.

“Donations like this demonstrate how the community helps us help the community.”

Acting council chief Silvio Trinca said employees had proudly supported the appeal for almost 20 years.

“Our organisation exists to make day-to-day life in the City of Logan better by providing community services and infrastructure,” Mr Trinca said.

“You really get a sense of how caring and dedicated to the community our team is when you see how much has been left under the tree.

“The Salvos do a wonderful job in supporting those in need and I encourage others to get behind the appeal as well.”
