Priestdale’s 435 Forest Road is the largest privately owned land package within 20km of Brisbane City, according to Mike Ower, who is selling the property for a listed asking price of $8.8 million.
Mr Ower said the property was the last of its kind in the region.
“Properties of this size are very hard to find in metropolitan southeast Queensland and so close to the growth corridors,” he said.
The land was last bought in 2014 by the current owner, an engineer, who designed and built the property in 2017 to suit his lifestyle tastes.
“He [the owner] wanted something that was modern, and he loves natural stone,” Mr Ower said. “You’ll see natural stone has been used in the property, from the concrete floors and the kitchen bench.
“The ceilings are very high, there’s floor-to-ceiling glass as well, and he’s put in lovely pivot doors for airflow and lots of natural timbers all the way through.”
The residence has three bedrooms and bathrooms, an office space, an open plan living and dining area, and a kitchen with two pantries.
Mr Ower said, subject to council approval, the residence could be expanded. There is a building envelope of 4000m around the current house block.
Four dams on the property’s 33ha mean the house is not connected to water mains or sewerage and is completely self-sufficient, Mr Ower said.
“A 200,000L water tank that provides all the water for drinking in the house, and the dams supply all the water for feeding animals, plants, trees, and everything else.”
Interested buyers have inquired about the property from a range of Australian states and international countries like Dubai, China, Taiwan, India, and the United Kingdom, Mr Ower said.
“The majority have been from people in southeast Queensland who are already in the area,” he said.
“An array of buyers have recognised that the property is something special, and there aren’t two of them.
“That’s the hardest thing, when people ask if I can give them a comparable property, well, there isn’t one.”
