The Benevolent Society’s Premmies Playgroup is holding a family fun day on Friday 17 November to commemorate World Prematurity Day.
There will be stories, songs, games, activities, morning tea and giveaways to raise awareness and support for pre-term babies and their families.
The event will be free and open to everyone, and held at Logan Gardens Park on Civic Parade,Logan Central, from 9.30-11.30am.
“Browns Plains Early Years Centre offers a Premmies Playgroup weekly, a supported play program for premature babies and their families,” a spokesperson from The Benevolent Society said.
“The event aims to bring the community together to support families in the Logan area on a similar journey.”
Up to 27,000 babies are born prematurely in Australia each year, and more than 15 million are born prematurely globally.
More than one million of these babies die as a result.
World Prematurity Day started in 2008, and is now celebrated in more than 100 countries, with more than 170 organisations hosting events.
