More than half a million residents will call Logan home in the next 20 years.
This population increase creates both opportunities and challenges for our city to match growth with the necessary infrastructure.
Roads, public transport, good hospitals and health care as well as public amenity and support services are paramount.
We also want to support job opportunities for our residents so they can live and work here.
Logan continues to attract large-scale investment to the city with national transport and logistics businesses establishing operations here. That means more jobs for locals.
At Crestmead, one of the country’s largest industrial developments is underway which will create 6000 jobs.
There is more than $18 billion in Council and government-funded infrastructure projects planned for the city. It’s an exciting time as we embrace this growth and welcome new families.
So what does the typical Logan family ‘look’ like’? According to Council’s latest Housing Study, based on information gathered over the past decade, they live in a detached (stand-alone) dwelling with at least three bedrooms and a double garage.
The Housing Study found that affordable choices for housing and high availability have made Logan a magnet for families.
People are flocking here from other parts of the state and also across the ditch from New Zealand.
Logan has the potential to grow by an additional 56,000 dwellings by 2036.
Suburbs such as Park Ridge, Bahrs Scrub, Logan Reserve and Holmview are building on the success stories of Yarrabilba and Flagstone.
There’s a lot to love about living in Logan.
Our job is to make sure we get that balance right, blending the right levels of development, while protecting our precious natural environment.
