Police have charged three people during public safety checks at Springwood bus station as part of an operation targeting knife crime and anti-social behaviour on Logan busways.
Springwood Police conducted wanding operations at the bus station on 11 and 16 June under Operation Yankee Course, a rolling south-east Queensland operation running since 2023.
Police said the operation was aimed at maintaining public safety and preventing anti-social behaviour, knife crime and assaults.
On 11 June, officers screened 58 people and issued two infringement notices for smoking on a busway.
On 16 June, police screened more than 43 people, resulting in three people being charged with nine offences.
A 40-year-old Woodridge woman was charged with possessing dangerous drugs.
A 17-year-old Springwood girl was detained for a search, during which police said they found stolen grocery items, dangerous drugs and drug-related items.
She was charged with possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug utensils, possessing tainted property and stealing after previous conviction.
A 47-year-old Springwood man was charged with possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug utensils and failing to properly dispose of a syringe or needle.
Police also spoke with 52 bus drivers during the operation.
More bus and train stations across the district are expected to be included in the operation.
