Police release body cam footage of officer hit and run incident, Chambers Flat

Police have released eight-month-old footage of a female police officer chasing a man during a burglary.

It shows the officer was hit by the man’s car in what they say was a hit-and-run.

According to police, the incident occurred on 23 June last year when police were called to a property on Farrow Road at Chambers Flat just before 7.45 am.

Reports indicated a break-and-enter in progress involving two men.

“Upon arrival, police disturbed one of the men on the roof of the property. As officers pursued him, he entered a black Mazda,” a police statement said.

“A female constable attempted to remove him from the vehicle before he drove away, injuring her in the process.”

She was transported to the hospital in a stable condition.

Police said a second man also fled the scene on foot and a search of the area by the dog squad failed to locate either suspect.

The newly released body-worn camera footage shows one of the men leaving the scene and police are appealing to the public for assistance.

They urge anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
