“An equal world”
The song, ..”A mans, mans world” was once a big hit for Renee
And up till recent times this was still pretty true to say
But things began to change when women’s rights came to the fore
Louisa Lawson, mother of our Henry knew the score.
She battled most her life to smash discriminations post
and when our Nation formed, it featured equal rights ..for most *
The next leap forward happened in our State of endless sun
This is where our politician ladies first could run
Then the UN got on board, with a yearly Women’s Day
A tune by Helen was the theme and now it’s here to stay.
So this year as we thank our Ladies, don’t forget the key
Let us not rest, until we’re best…at ‘Gender Equality’.
* Australians voted in 1967 to change the constitution,
so that ( like the rest of us) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
could be counted as part of the population.
