Pickleball bragging rights

Be warned. Businesses are getting their competitive spirit on as they fill the courts of Club Beenleigh in the city’s first pickleball corporate challenge.

The sport is one of the fastest growing in the country.

Players use a paddle to hit a ball with holes in it over a net. It’s played on a court with the same dimensions as badminton, uses a net similar to tennis, and has tennis-type rules with various modifications.

Never mind. Everyone who enters the challenge scheduled for September 10 will be given a pre-tournament training session with coaches Kiel and AJ.

Each team of two players will be charged $100, which is regarded as a tax-deductible donation to the Cancer Council’s Relay for Life, of which MyCity Logan is a proud supporter.

Being a Friday, the tournament kicks off at 12.30pm with team registrations, and players launch the challenge at 1.30pm, through to 5pm, after which there will be a presentation of trophies and a networking function.

To nominate a corporate team, phone 3807 5836.
