ANDRE Rivett is a man who will be stopped by nobody as he puts together a fitness regime to help him throw further.
Andre is no stranger to many in Logan, a man whose personality is infectious and his results on the world stage something to be proud of.
He has developed a spin into his discus throw which amazes people at international meets.
And he loves to do a victory lap as he carries the Australian flag every time he wins a medal.
While Andre’s efforts on the athletics field are worthy of all the accolades he’s received from council and other avenues, it’s his efforts to have down syndrome athletes recognised on the biggest stage of them all that deserve recognition.
We speak often of diversity and the need to celebrate our multicultural communities.
Let’s also celebrate and echo the work of anybody who is working to have the achievements of people with disability recognised.
In Andre’s case, a new category in the Paralympics for down syndrome athletes would surely be just.
The people of Logan will surely be joining your crew of supporters when you represent us on the biggest stage of all in 2032.
Our Hulk will be stopped by nobody
