Logan residents have until December 13 to nominate the volunteers, artists, athletes, innovators and community leaders making a difference across the city.
Nominations are open for the 2027 City of Logan People’s Excellence Awards, which recognise contributions across arts and heritage, the environment, innovation, social impact, sport and volunteering.
More than 120 nominations were received for the inaugural awards, held earlier this year.
Logan mayor Jon Raven said many of the city’s most dedicated community members did not seek recognition for their work.
“Our most outstanding community members are often the most humble, so it’s important we take the time to recognise them,” he said.
“We live among some serious superstars in the City of Logan and it’s time for them to shine.”
The awards include seven categories, as well as the Mayor’s Excellence Award for an outstanding contribution to Logan during the previous year.
Lifelong volunteer Gail Harrower became the first recipient of the top award earlier this year.
Ms Harrower leads Mission Possible, a network of more than 500 volunteers who knit, crochet and sew items for nursing houses, Camp Quality and the Cancer Council.
Her volunteer work has also included supporting people receiving palliative care at Logan Hospital.
Ms Harrower said the award recognised the wider network of volunteers working alongside her.
“I was proud to receive the award as an individual, and also on behalf of all the incredible people that I work with at Mission Possible,” she said.
“We don’t do what we do for recognition, but if someone in your life quietly makes a difference through kindness and selfless acts that ease the struggles of others, take a moment to nominate them.”
Nominations close on Sunday, December 13, with winners to be announced at an invitation-only event in May 2027.
