Tails are wagging at the newly redeveloped Animal Management Centre at Queens Rd, Kingston, with the centre unveiling a brand-new dog adoption area.
The centre now features two off-leash yards and a community desexing clinic open for use.
The community desexing clinic is equipped with a centralised prep area, four skylights that provide natural light, a large consultation room, an autoclave, and two dedicated surgery spaces.
Logan City Council claims the redesigned dog adoption area boasts noise reduction technology, natural light, and ample off-leash zones to ensure dogs can enjoy exercise and optimal living conditions while waiting for their forever homes.
These upgraded service areas are part of $21 million renovations of the 2.5-hectare facility.
The final touches on the centre’s new car park and sensory garden will be completed in the coming months.
Additional facilities include a spacious, air-conditioned cattery, a modern laboratory for mosquito identification, and an expanded native fish breeding area, all designed to support the council’s comprehensive mosquito surveillance and treatment efforts.
