Logan-based Perentie Brewing has been crowned the state’s lager champion after winning eight awards at the Royal Queensland Beer Awards 2024.
“It really is a huge coup for Perentie Brewing Co. to take out the trophy… especially as the new kid on the block,” Perentie founder Kenton Campbell said.
“We are absolutely thrilled and honoured to receive such acknowledgment for what has been a true passion project for myself and the team.
“These awards showcase the best of the best and I could not be prouder of our beer and our people.”
Perentie secured one-fifth of the gold medals awarded in the lager category, beating more than 130 other entries.
In total, there were more than 600 entries from 87 breweries across 18 categories.
The judging panel consisted of 48 experienced brewers, sensory experts and industry figures.
Perentie Brewing Co. won:

“When we opened our doors to Perentie in December 2023, we set out on a mission to produce a clean and crisp lager beer – in our opinion the heart and soul of beer,” Mr Campbell said.
Perentie produces three beers: Summer Dry (a midstrength lager), Pure Crisp (clean crisp lager) and Komodo Black (dark lager).
Ahead of the awards, Perentie also produced a limited-edition brew, Pure Haze, which the brewery dubbed “the ultimate session lager”.
The $6 million facility can brew one million litres of beer a year.
It is named after Australia’s largest monitor lizard, the Perentie, which is native to the outback.
