A sold-out fitness competition in Meadowbrook has brought 160 mums to Logan and raised almost $5000 towards a cuddle cot in memory of a baby boy lost at birth.
The Fit Mumma Classic 2026 was held at CrossFit Iron Barbell on Sunday 17 May, drawing competitors from across South East Queensland, including Dalby, Redland Bay, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast.
Organisers said more than 300 spectators attended the functional fitness competition, which included scaled, masters and performance divisions.
CrossFit Dalby even chartered a bus to bring competitors to the Logan event.
Fit Mumma Events organiser Patsy Tierney said the competition had become a celebration of motherhood, fitness and community.
“Strong mums raise strong humans, and this event is our way of celebrating that,” Ms Tierney said.
“To watch it grow and sell out each year, full of women cheering each other on, is everything I hoped it would become.”
This year’s event also raised funds for Bears of Hope through Lucas’ Light, in honour of local baby Luca, who died at birth.
The fundraising effort brought in just under $5000 towards a $6500 goal to purchase a cuddle cot in Luca’s name.
Raffles, donations, face painting, balloon twisting and part of the athlete entry fees all contributed to the cause.
Luca’s mother Jeannine Mailman said the support from the Fit Mumma community meant more than words could express.
“After losing Luca at 39 weeks, my dream was for his life to leave something meaningful in this world that could help other families through such a heartbreaking time,” Ms Mailman said.
“A cuddle cot gives grieving parents the precious gift of time with their baby, and knowing Luca’s name will help provide that for others means everything to us.
“We are so incredibly grateful to Patsy, Fit Mumma, Bears of Hope, and every person who helped make this possible.”
The advanced division was won by Lisa Moseley and Zoe Mahon, from CrossFit Bil.
Amy Williams and Breanna Brown, from Suburban Training, placed second, while Emma Archbold and Jasmine Gash, from CrossFit Dalby, finished third.
Ms Moseley said the event was special because it brought together women balancing training with motherhood, work and family life.
“Competing alongside other mums who are juggling work, small humans and training is something pretty special, and it’s an absolute privilege to share the floor with them all,” she said.
“It’s a privilege to be able to move our bodies and show our little people in our lives that we aren’t just mums, wives, workers, we can do something for ourselves that hopefully inspires other people big or small.
“Fit Mumma comp is a day where we get to celebrate everything we do as mums.”
Logan mum Rosemary Viney, who competed on the day, said the event was not only about results.
“I’m not here for the podium,” she said.
“I’m here because I get to push myself and see what I can do, alongside other mums.”
