Mt Lindesay Highway upgrades start date announced

Construction of upgrade works on the Mount Lindesay Highway at Jimboomba will begin in November.

The project will upgrade the highway between Johanna Street and South Street, including duplicating lanes from two to four to hopefully improve safety, ease congestion, and reduce travel times.

The $95 million project will also include the construction of shared pedestrian paths and a new south bound bridge over the disused rail corridor.

Queensland’s Transport and Main Roads Minister Bart Mellish said the upgrades would increase capacity and improve safety along the highway.

“The works will include optimisation of the parking at the Jimboomba State School, including the drop off and pick area on the western service road (Brisbane Street),” he said.

“It’s great to see the 10-year forward plan continue to progress into delivery across stages. This is a great win for Jimboomba.”

Member for Logan Linus Power said the upgrade would support population growth and make travelling easier.

“Jimboomba locals are also set to benefit with increased lanes and intersection upgrades at Johanna and Tamborine streets, and South and Brisbane streets,” Mr Power said.

“Working with locals, I’ll keep fighting to continue improving the Mt Lindesay Highway.”
