Mission to develop loving hearts, strong minds

By Head of Primary, Adam Marsh (Groves Christian College)

The heart and mission of Groves Christian College is for students to develop “loving hearts and strong minds” – to challenge our students to live God inspired, purposeful, fulfilled lives, now and into eternity.

The Groves Kindergarten program is the first step in this learning journey. Our Kindy provides an
active play-based environment for children to learn, grow and explore and become confident and
competent learners. A place where children and their families can belong.

As a Groves learner, our Kindergarten children will “wonder and develop”.

Wondering how everything works leads the children into a range of learning opportunities, linked to the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines, expertly weaved together to make the introduction of early literacy and numeracy an everyday event.

Children develop socially through rich interactions with educators and increasing interactions with peers.

Our prep program has been designed for children to engage in collaboration, inquiry and problem-solving across the foundation goals of the Australian Curriculum to build their knowledge, enhance their skills and understanding.

Our students engage in active learning programs to refine their fine and gross motor skills and
continue to investigate the world through the balance of play and academic learning.

Helping our students develop and acquire strong literacy and numeracy skills is a major focus in prep at Groves. Teachers focus on building early numeracy, phonics and reading skills with personalised and age-appropriate expectations to cater for the needs of their students.

Our prep program is also designed to develop the whole child. Our students are provided
opportunities to build friendships, develop resilience and explore their creative pursuits in the
“foundation phase” (Prep to Year 2).

Making the transition from kindy to prep is an important milestone for your child. We invite you to come and experience our upcoming “open morning” on Saturday, June 18 from 9am-12pm.

This is a morning specifically designed for future Kindy and Prep children and families wishing to experience the Groves difference.

Come and view the prep and kindergarten classrooms and play spaces; participate in various fun
activities and speak with our experienced “early years” staff. You can also arrange a tour to visit our Early Learning Centre.

Visit groves.christian.college to register your interest and attendance. Enrolments for 2023 are now open.
