Three new Logan schools get names ahead of first intake

Two new special schools and a new high school in Logan now have names, with enrolments open ahead of their first students arriving in 2027.

Ridgeview Special School and Corymbia Reserve State High School will open at Logan Reserve, while Berrinba Special School will serve students at Logan Central.

For Ridgeview foundation principal Abby Kilfoy, the announcement brings the school a step closer to becoming a community.

“This is an exciting step towards expanding educational opportunities for students with disability in the Logan area,” Ms Kilfoy said.

“Together with families, staff and the community, we will create a learning environment where students are supported to thrive, achieve and realise their aspirations.”

Ridgeview is expected to start with Prep to Year 6 students before expanding over time.

Corymbia Reserve, on Derby Road, will initially enrol students in Years 7 and 8, with higher year levels added as students progress.

Berrinba foundation principal Rob McDowall said the new school would strengthen education options for students with disability.

“It’s wonderful to see this school develop and become a great asset for the education of students with disability,” he said.

A new primary school had also been planned to open at Holmview in 2027, but that has been pushed back to 2028.

Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek said construction was on track.

“Thank you to everyone involved in helping us create the schools’ identities, which will be the source of so much pride and celebration in the future,” he said.

School names were chosen following consultation with local schools, residents, elected representatives and other stakeholders.

Uniform designs, school colours and logos are still being finalised.

Families considering enrolment should check the relevant school’s initial year levels and enrolment requirements, particularly as the new campuses will grow in stages.
