A man has been accused of fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run that killed a motorbike rider in Lyons.
The man, a 28-year-old from Minden in Somerset, was allegedly driving without a licence and has been charged over the Sunday morning crash (8 December).
Police allege the Minden man was driving along Ripley Road in a grey Nissan Navara when he crashed into a blue Yamaha Motorcycle at the intersection with Undullah Road at around 11.40am.
The rider, a 60-year-old Beenleigh man, died at the scene.
“The driver of the Nissan… failed to remain at the scene and continued north on Ripley Road,” police alleged in a statement.
He has been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and driver fail to remain at incident and render assistance, and two counts of driving without a driver’s licence.
