Man charged after investigations into Logan Central police shooting

A man has been charged following investigations into a police-involved shooting at Logan Central earlier this year.

Queensland Police said officers attended a Wembley Road address in Logan Central about 7.50pm on March 21 after reports of a disturbance involving an armed man, with an earlier release initially identifying the incident as occurring near Ewing Road and Carmody Street.

Police said officers discharged their firearms during the incident, striking the man.

The 27-year-old Koongal man was treated at the scene by police before being taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

No police officers or members of the public were injured and police said there was no ongoing risk to public safety.

Following investigations, the man has now been charged with one count each of wilful damage, receiving tainted property, serious assault police officer while armed or pretending to be armed with a weapon, possessing dangerous drugs and going armed so as to cause fear.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on May 27.

Queensland Police said the Ethical Standards Command was continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident, with oversight from the Crime and Corruption Commission, in line with standard practice.
