Flagstone residents now have a place to meet and access services with the opening of the $8 million Flagstone District Community Centre.
Logan mayor Jon Raven said the centre had meeting spaces and multipurpose rooms.
“It’ll give locals a place to access services and programs close to home,” Cr Raven said.
“That’s the sort of practical community infrastructure growing suburbs need.”
The centre was planned to meet the demands of the fast-growing Greater Flagstone area, which is expected to reach a population of 138,000 when fully developed.
The centre is being run by not-for-profit community service provider Beaucare.
Residents and organisations keen to use the space for meetings or to run community programs are encouraged to contact Beaucare.
Cr Raven said the community centres helped people get support and feel connected to their community.
“Across Logan, we’ve got 16 other community centres doing great work every day,” Cr Raven said.
“If you’ve never been to your local community centre, this week’s a good chance to have a look and see what’s happening.
“You might find something that helps you, or a way you can help someone else,” he said.
The Flagstone District Community Centre is located at 51 Parkland Drive, near the Flagstone Adventure Playground. It is open from 9am-4pm Monday to Friday.
