Lots of kindness in Logan

Re: Acts of Kindness (MyCity Logan April 6), there is a lot of kindness in Logan.

Some are large generous gestures, but many more are small acts, no less important or heart-warming.

As a rather wobbly 77-year-old, I often encounter kindness in my suburb of Marsden and my sincere thanks goes out to:

The neighbour who regularly mows my front footpath area.

The man who, on seeing me mowing my side of the nature strip, came and finished the job, then returned with his whipper snipper and did the edges.

To the person who continues to mow this area.

To the small boy who offered to help.

To the friend who texts me each morning to check I am okay.

To the lady who walked me to my car with her umbrella in a downpour.

The young woman who said “I’ll get that” as I reached for a heavy bag in the supermarket.

The lovely kids next door who on receiving a very small Easter gift, promptly returned with buns and hand-written thank you letters.

The lady who gave me her seat in the waiting area – those who wave me ahead of them for service – other shoppers who offer a smile as we dodge each other in the aisles.

They all have my heartfelt gratitude, and brighten up my life.

I am confident that the future of Logan is in good hands.

Jan Best,

Marsden.
