Long-time residents list Cedar Grove property in tightly held community

Privacy and proximity to the city and coast is what sets Cedar Grove’s 267–273 Deltoro Road apart, its long-time owner says.

The property, located on a 9766sqm block in a cul-de-sac, offers open space, established trees and a sense of separation that is increasingly difficult to find in fast-growing parts of Logan.

Karen Dent and her family bought the home in 1994, a year after it was built, and have spent three decades gradually upgrading and adding to it.

“The privacy and the convenience are the best features of the home,” Ms Dent said. “I work in West End and travel in every day.

You can get to the Gold Coast in about 45 minutes on a good day, and the city within an hour.”

The house has updated bathrooms and a renovated kitchen, while solar panels, electric gates and extensive landscaping have been added over time.

A dam sits at the front of the block and hundreds of trees have been planted across the grounds.

There is also a swimming pool and a separate, recently renovated studio, which Ms Dent said proved useful when her children were teenagers.

“It was very convenient,” Ms Dent said. “You like to keep the kids at home and have their friends over.”

Ms Dent said the property’s position on the high side of the road meant it was not flood-prone, and the surrounding area could not be built out.

“A lot of people move to Cedar Grove and stay,” Ms Dent said. “It’s a very caring community.”

The family is selling as part of a lifestyle change, planning to move to a larger property nearby with their son.
