Logan’s best – a poem

I’ve picked a first eleven filled with Logan city’s best .
We’d surely have opponents stumped and pass the toughest test.
In charge of hospitality, the proud Yugembeh band
We thank them for the chance to share their ancient sacred land.
And now we pick the opening bats, a sturdy one and two.
Would be a mix of German stock and Brit red, white and blue.
Other Europeans from the pioneering day would trouble rivals with their
pace and spin too hard to play.
Papuan New Guineans and Philippines too.
Along with fellow Anzac mates are welcome in our crew.
How ’bout a wicketkeeper from a southern Asian land.
A Pakistani, Indian or Lankan would be grand.
Our home-grown stocks are bolstered by Pacific island flair.
And Africans in harmony enhance Australian flair.
And as that recent …marv’lous… World Cup win we celebrate
Let’s give three cheers to all of us
Who help make Logan great.
All the best.
