Ms Elson has lived in the character home for 15 years, raising her family there and making only light updates to preserve its original features.
“It’s a beautiful house,” Ms Elson said. “We’ve had an amazing time there.”
The property stands out for its traditional design, with details that reflect early 20th-century craftsmanship, including leadlight windows, pressed metal ceilings and polished timber floors.
Ms Elson said one of her favourite spots in the house was the bay window, which has framed family moments over the years, including a photograph of her daughter and four dogs that won a silver medal in a photography competition.
The enclosed sunroom was another highlight, Ms Elson said.
While surrounding development had changed the outlook over time, Ms Elson said it was once possible to see across to a lake and watch the sunset through the gum trees.
“You’d look out towards the gum trees and watch the sunset,” she said. “It’s just beautiful.”
Ms Elson said the property had suited family life, particularly given its proximity to Logan Hospital and major transport routes.
“We bought the house because it was near Logan Hospital and we managed to commute to all the different hospitals,” she said.
Located near Logan Hospital and with access to major transport routes, the home has suited a working family lifestyle.
While largely unchanged structurally, the house offers scope for future updates.
Ms Elson said potential buyers may look to raise or extend the home, or even add a secondary dwelling, making it suitable for multi-generational living.
“It has the potential to be someone else’s new dream,” she said.
