Logan teenagers among five charged after overnight break-ins across Brisbane and the Gold Coast

Two Logan teenagers are among five people charged following a series of break-ins across Brisbane’s south and the Gold Coast on 7 April.

A Park Ridge boy, 16, and a Browns Plains boy, 17, have been charged after police tracked a stolen vehicle across several suburbs overnight.

Police say a home on Tosti Street in Bundall was entered around 2am and a black Mercedes-Benz GLE450 was stolen.

In Bulimba, about 3.50am, a house on Coutts Street was broken into, but nothing was taken after the alleged offenders were confronted by the property owners.

Police say there were also attempted break-ins on nearby McConnell Street, Bulimba Street, Walter Street and Duke Street.

Around 4.30am, a home on Skyview Avenue in Rochedale was entered, with no property reported stolen.

Police say there were also attempts to enter another Skyview Avenue address and a home on Phoenix Street.

No one was injured during the incidents.

At about 10.44am, the stolen Mercedes crashed into a police vehicle on Stephens Street in Upper Coomera before it was stopped on Reserve Road. Five people were arrested.

The Browns Plains boy has been charged with 18 counts of burglary, eight counts relating to the use of stolen cars, and one count of fraud.

The Park Ridge boy has been charged with seven counts of burglary.

Also charged were a 17-year-old from Upper Coomera, a 14-year-old from Pimpama, and an 18-year-old man from Oxenford.

The Oxenford man faces a number of charges, including burglary, robbery and assault.

All five were refused bail.

The teenagers are expected to appear in the Southport Children’s Court on 8 April, while the Oxenford man is expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on the same day.
