Logan council spending a lot on 14 people

To me it was very disappointing to read this year’s Logan Budget report.

We are all in a pandemic situation with job losses each time a lockdown is imposed, restricting the normal flow of money into each household and yet this council went ahead and increased the rates.

I then found it very hard to digest the enormous amount of money we the ratepayers provide to pay these 14 people who run our council – namely, the acting CEO, the mayor and 12 councillors a staggering $2,451,310 for one year.

Then there is a section for car and petrol allowance for the same 14 people running our council. This report just blew me away.

The acting CEO is entitled to $33,721 for procuring and running a vehicle. The mayor $30,349.27; Division 9 councillor $23,202.44; Division 11 councillor $23,202.44; Division 4 councillor $22,702.44; all the remaining divisions $21,702.44 each.

A grand total for these 14 people: $328,499.55. For the four-year term of this council $1,313,998.20. There is no remorse for Logan ratepayers.

This council has spent a lot of money putting solar panels on all council buildings so the time is now right for the council to provide each one of these 14 people with a new electric car, charged free at the council car parks.

We the ratepayers of Logan deserve a better deal from this one-sided council.

Carbrook.
