Logan City Council has launched a campaign to be chosen as the host of a one-off performance by Australian artist Tones and I.
Toni Watson, known by her stage name, Tones and I, announced on social media last week that she would perform an all-ages gig with tickets priced at $10 in the Australian town or city that campaigned the hardest for her to visit and take the stage.
In 2024, Tones and I headlined a sold-out eight-show tour across Australia in 2024, making stops in Brisbane and Townsville, but Logan missed out.
Mayor Jon Raven officially invited Tones and I to the city yesterday via a social media post, which has already attracted clicks from 1800 residents, and counting, who are showing their support for the concert.
Cr Raven said Logan was the perfect place for Tones and I to perform, citing the city’s diverse culture, young population, and suitable venue.
“Logan is also the perfect place to host an all-ages gig as one of Australia’s youngest cities, with more than 50 per cent of the population aged 34 years or younger,” Cr Raven said.
“With a population made up of more than 230 cultures, holding the concert in Logan is practically a world tour in one place.
“The stage is set, and I’ve booked a great venue for her at Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct that can host 8500 people; all she needs to do is show up, and we’ll roll out the red carpet.”
Cr Raven encouraged the city to get behind the campaign to entice the ARIA award-winning artist whose 2019 hit Dance Monkey topped charts in over 30 countries, to choose Logan.
“Let’s go hard, Logan, and have everyone jump on our Facebook page, click attending to the event, and show Tones and I how much we want to see her,” he said.
“With tickets for Tones and I concerts usually ranging from $80-$200, these $10 tickets would allow fans of all ages to see her live, right here in Logan.”
To join the campaign to see Tones and I live in Logan, locals can click ‘going’ or ‘interested’ on the council’s Facebook event page – https://lccqld.com/tones-and-i-in-logan – before this Sunday, 25 January.
