Pride is something that the City of Logan has never been short on.
As a community we’ve always had a clear sense of who we are and what we represent.
Last week council launched its new Proud City Campaign, celebrating the City of Logan’s boldest features.
The centre-piece of the campaign is a one-minute-13-second video, featured on Council’s new ourlogan.com.au website. Its edgy, gritty and bound to spark conversation.
It hasn’t always been easy for Logan to be recognised beyond our city borders but it’s time others sit up and take notice of all we have to offer. After all, it’s the underdog you have to watch out for.
At the heart of the campaign are the stories of six local champions, chosen to represent the city’s diversity, vibrancy and lifestyle offerings. There’s colour and image consultant Emma Willmann, farmer John Howes, Traditional Owner Shaun Davies, soccer coach Zohal Shahalami, market seller Muy Keo and barber Nicky Pati.
Individually, these people are fascinating but collectively they start to paint a picture of who we are as a community.
Rather than telling the rest of the world our story, we’re showing them through the stories of our people.
City of Logan residents know that our community has an authentic and colourful identity, unlike any other. This campaign embraces that clear sense of identity while turning typical stereotypes on their head.
Our city’s great strength is its people – we know perceptions won’t change from one tagline, one campaign or one initiative but its time to look past the labels and encourage people to dig a little deeper.
This is out moment to celebrate our wonderful residents from all walks of life – we will continue to walk to the beat of a different drum.
