Lifestyle communities add value to suburbs

Research commissioned for Halcyon Rise, a lifestyle resort being built in Logan Reserve, has shown that property prices have increased almost 7% per year over the past 20 years.

Figures came from a 2020 Urbis Report, and has triggered a school of thought that lifestyle communities are helping boost the long-term welfare of developing suburbs.

Logan Reserve has been known as a predominantly rural area.

Research has also shown that while many associate the area with first-home buyers, new development is driving a change in demographics of the area.

Over 55s will account for almost a third of the population in the area by 2041.

The homes at Halcyon Rise, which fronts the Logan River, are priced from $375,000, putting them in the mid-range bracket of Over 50s living.

With Logan Reserve on the fringe areas of the city, the business is selling its proximity only 30 minutes from the Gold Coast, yet within reach of Brisbane city as a desirable location.

Marketing of land offerings in the area agrees.

So do Jan and Gary Wilkins who were one of the first couples to buy into the Halcyon property.

They’re looking forward to moving in, after leaning on their sons for accommodation since selling their family home recently at Forestdale.

“We wanted to downsize. But we were looking for a lifestyle resort, not a retirement village,” Mrs Wilkins said.

Aged in their 70s, the couple is familiar with the advantages of the location and feels Logan Reserve is “the perfect spot”.

“As soon as we saw the houses, we were sold. Security is a big thing for us and is a big plus with a resort such as this,” Mrs Wilkins said.

“And we know we’ll have like-minded people around us, which provides us with the quality of life we want.”

Halcyon’s General Manager of Sales and Construction, Scott Ng said the Logan Reserve location was an opportunity for people to downsize without having to move away.

“Halcyon Rise will give our homeowners the very best of a Halcyon lifestyle; the incredible recreation and leisure facilities and the connected and supportive community that goes with it,” he said.

Eagleby, Bethania, Logan Village, Springwood each have multiple lifestyle communities, but there are numerous others within the Logan local government catchment area.

People will start moving into Halcyon Rise next year.
