From the outset, MyCity Logan adopted a mantra that to be a successful community newspaper, we would have to truly reflect our community.
What that means is being able to balance the good and the bad. While we will not shy away from telling stories which demand attention, we feel it is important to remain on top of all the positive developments which are occurring in our region.
It is important that we insist upon transparency from our local politicians, regardless of what tier of government they represent.
It is important that we ask some of the tough questions. But it is equally important that we reflect the marvelous talent coming from our own backyard.
Today, you’ll see a story about the soon-to-be-opened PCYC at Slacks Creek, and the world-class facilities it will bring to the area.
You’ll read about Arndale Shopping Centre, which after 45 years is almost finished with a much-needed refurbishment.
It’s not the only one. Springwood Mall is also about to undergo a facelift, Beenleigh’s CBD is set to see new life with the opening of The York, and other developments.
Our schools are constantly expanding. Last week we wrote about the opening of a new campus for King’s College at Logan Village. San Damiano at Yarrabilba is in its first year.
And state schools are pitched alongside the best in the country, constantly winning awards.
While we acknowledge there are many stories within our neighbourhoods which remain untold, there are constant reminders that we should be extraordinarily proud of where we live.
